All of our undergraduate courses offer an optional sandwich year route that gives you the opportunity to apply for an industry placement between your second and final year. Or to combine study abroad with one of our partner institutions and a placement. If you choose this route, you will commit to working full-time in the fashion industry during your third year, before returning to complete your degree in your fourth year. As one of our students all of your teaching and assessments are included in your tuition fees, including, lectures/guest lectures and tutorials, seminars, laboratory sessions and specialist teaching facilities. You will also have access to a wide range of student support and IT services.
Students will critically contextualise and analyse contemporary issues and cultural shifts in Fashion. Students have opportunity to focus on an area of critical and contextual studies that aligns with their personal practice. This unit enables the exploration and professional communication of innovative design concepts and techniques, applicable to defined product categories and market levels. The unit requires students to take an explorative approach to the design and development of fashion / sportswear ranges; through innovative garment finish, details, materials and construction techniques. These may be applied to aspirational but commercial industry/live briefs with emphasis on product categories within a defined market level. This unit enables students to develop their professional and interpersonal skills, exploring future career opportunities within the fashion industry.
For instance, there are two huge Learning Resource Centres on both campuses at the university where it really helps the students with their assignments. Moreover, all the buildings where we have classes at are very new and that proves that the university cares about its appearance and invest a lot of money for the students to have a great environment to study within. This is where the creative arts, science and health-related subjects are based. This means you’ll share the campus with future nurses, scientists, artists and more. You can use the common rooms to relax with friends, work out in the 24-hour gym or have a drink in our on-campus pub or cafes. We also have restaurants for you to eat in or grab something on the go.
